In the first round of the tournament in Doha, the renowned Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic suffered an unexpected defeat against Matteo Berrettini. After the match, the Serbian athlete did not spare words of praise for his opponent.

“Berrettini showcased perfect tennis – a powerful serve, a high percentage of first serves, and flawless tactics. Especially in the second set, I had virtually no chances on his serve,” Djokovic noted.

The performance of the world’s top-ranked player clearly did not meet his usual standards, and he missed the opportunity to win his hundredth career title. Commenting on his recent injury after the game, he stated that he “felt no pain or discomfort.” “Simply put, I was outplayed by a stronger opponent,” concluded the legend of world tennis.

Regarding his immediate plans, Djokovic confirmed that he will continue collaborating with Andy Murray, whom he did not get to meet in Doha. “We will definitely work together at ‘Roland Garros.’ We’ll see how things go from there. My main game strategy will remain unchanged,” the Serbian tennis star revealed.

This defeat once again demonstrated that even the greatest players can face challenges but are ready to honestly acknowledge their opponents’ victories rather than attributing their losses to poor preparation or health issues.
