The Serbian 3×3 basketball team has departed for Thailand, where from March 14 to 16 they will compete in the FIBA Champions Cup. Eight men’s and women’s teams from around the world will be represented there.
“Based on the criteria set by FIBA 3×3, the Champions Cup will feature teams from the two best federations according to the FIBA ranking, the winner of the Asia Cup, the winner of the Americas Cup, the winner of the Europe Cup, and the Olympic champion,” explained head coach of the Serbian team, Marko Ždero.
The men’s team roster includes: Mark Bran ković, Nenad Neranđić, Mark Mi laković, and Partizan Holiverse player Stefan Milivojević.
The Serbian basketball players trained for three weeks in Novi Sad with an updated lineup. “We brought in players from their clubs and tried to change the way we worked until now in order to ‘integrate’ them into a competitive rhythm,” said Ždero.
Experienced Strahinja Stojaković was unable to travel to Bangkok due to health issues, as organizers explained.
The Serbian team is in a group with Austria, the Netherlands, and Madagascar, against whom they will play their first match in the Champions Cup. The Serbian team’s first match in Bangkok will already take place on Friday, March 14, against Madagascar. On Sunday, the semifinals, final, and third-place match are scheduled.
