A former basketball player from the University of Connecticut (UConn), Eric Cobb, has found himself at the center of a criminal case related to the death of his mother. The incident occurred in Jacksonville, Florida, and has drawn significant public attention.

According to investigators, 30-year-old Eric Cobb was arrested after his mother, 54-year-old Melissa Cobb, was found dead in her home. Preliminary data indicates that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

Law enforcement established that Eric Cobb was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Witnesses reported that a heated argument between the mother and son escalated into physical violence.

Cobb, who played for UConn from 2012 to 2016, had no prior criminal record and was considered a promising athlete. However, in recent years, his life was overshadowed by legal issues and alcohol addiction.

The defense claims that the suspect does not remember the details of what happened due to severe intoxication and insists on additional expert evaluations. The case is currently under active investigation, and final conclusions will be made after all necessary procedures are completed.

This tragic story serves as a vivid example of how personal problems and dependencies can destroy even a successful sports career. Currently, Eric Cobb is being held in custody awaiting trial.
