Mixed martial arts in Novi Sad is once again returning to the big stage. On March 1, 2025, the Spens Sports Complex will host the 11th tournament of the ARMAADA promotion.

The event organizers annually bring their top fighters to Novi Sad, and sports enthusiasts are already well-acquainted with the most active participants. As was the case last year, promising heavyweight Jovan Leka will take part in the main event. His last fight against Russian Anton Vinnikov lasted all five rounds, during which the audience witnessed a complete and thrilling bout. The victory ultimately went to the Russian contender.

This time, the Serbian fighter will face Brazilian Dirlei Broenstrup, who boasts a record of 17 wins and 12 losses. This match was originally scheduled for December 2024 but was canceled due to a bone fracture suffered by Jovan. The enforced and lengthy break may affect the fighter’s mindset as he returns to the octagon in his hometown. This presents a new mental challenge for the athlete, the results of which the audience will soon see.

However, underestimating the opponent would be unwise. While 43-year-old Broenstrup has lost his last four fights, similar slumps in his career have been followed by victories. Additionally, like many Brazilian fighters, he has extensive grappling experience, which he will likely rely on this weekend.

Also participating in the Novi Sad tournament will be crowd-pleasing fighters Aleksandar Novakovic, Luka Lakic, and Ognjen Babic, who currently has a streak of five consecutive wins.
